Table Tennis

We began our adventure of completing the Summer Olympics in February 2014.  First up - Table Tennis.  Table Tennis has been an Olympic event since 1988, with singles and doubles events for men and women.  Professional players can hit the ball at speeds of 70 mph, but I doubt our balls were flying at one-tenth that speed.

Six of us met on a cold Saturday morning, some of us meeting for the first time.  R's church had a table they let us use.  Some of us had played before, and some hadn't, but we warmed up and had some fun.  We began to discover what techniques were most effective for scoring, however we didn't have the skill or training to effectively do them.  We did have a few good volleys and lots of FUN as we laughed and joked about our skills.  See some pictures of the competition below.

L, R, and K made the podium.  Congratulations, ladies!

Fort Worth Do The Olympics

So I recently came across the blog of Sarah and Ellie, two women in England who had the brilliant idea to try every woman's Summer Olympic event.  What a great way to have fun and learn new things.  I talked to some friends, and several of them were up for the challenge.  Watch us as we work our way through the over one hundred Summer Olympic events.
